Kasargod: On the unique occasion of celebrating a century of useful existence as an educational institution from a secondary school, High school and developing in to a college now the Neerchalu Mahajana Sanskrit college has trained generations of students in what was Kasargod taluk and later became Kasargod district in Kerala inaugurating the centenary celebrations of this prestigious Sanskrit institution of learning Prof. K. Radhakrishnan, chairmen of ISRO of Bangalore and a celebrated Malayalee scientist refer to Sanskrit in its Devanagari script as a great ancient and purely Indian language of both Aryans and Dravidians since over thousands of years, and prevalent on the coastal region of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan besides other states like Andhra and Tamilnadu. He stated that Sanskrit was a mother language to all other Indian languages by blood and traditional literary and scientific connections with them.
He told the distinguished audience of Sanskrit scholars at the centenary convention that Sanskrit is the resource of almanac astrology and space research. It was Sanskrit in its extra nominal stretch heralded the intense search for Mars (Kuja or Mangala), also non as the Red Planet to the scientists, to find out what was in store on the face of this small planet in the sky, next only to mercury (Budha).
The ISRO chief stated that his co scientist in his row were interested in sending and astronaut to the Mars, just like America had sent a man and Russia a woman to the Moon. The search on Mars had already began to check up if there was water ( the main source of life) was available on the dried up canals found by ISRO on the Mars. India he said was 4th country in the world to search for any kind of life even human on the red planet which was attractive from the distance earth, and when we sent a man the Mars, we will be the first country to do so. bookings have already began for a journey to Mars and Back on Heavy payment in USA but no countries so far has sent any man there but only a Land Rower which detected the soil and possibility of water in the region on Mars facing the earth.
He was quite happy to attend the Neerchalu Mahajana Sanskrit College on its centenary year as an educational institution that started from a mere primary and secondary school stage to such a vast erudite Sanskrit institute of scholars.
The Edaneeru Math Swamiji Keshvananda Bharathi near Kasargod had come to this college to make a discourse of blessings to those who were studying the only world language suited for computers in modern days, Sanskrit. He spoke to the students and teachers in Sanskrit and told them that the good old language of classical contours survived in spite of western doctors and some Indian Rulers since 1947, declaring that it was a dead language. He stressed that Sanskrit would never die if India lived as it is the main source of language, culture and all Indian heritage for so many Yuga’s (periods) of time.
The occasion was chaired by MD of Madras Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Preeta Reddy. Dr. K. Krishna Kumar a celebrated Ayurveda fractioned from Coimbatore, M sheriff of Kerala Educational Department and ISRO scientist Dr. Ganesh Raj and other scientists and language scholars attended the meet.
Bela Padmanabha Sharma, reputed Kerala astrologer was honored on the happy occasion, as an old student of the Sanskrit college. K. Mahalinga Bhatt treasurer of reception committee welcomed. Dr. Subrahmanya Bhatt head of Mahajana educational Sangha proposed the vote of thanks.
There were cultural events at night such as dances by disciples of dance teacher Balakrishna Manjeshwar to round off the centenary celebrations.
