Mangalore: Abhayachandra Jain Meeting journalists at the press club on Dec.31 Tuesday morning informed them that there were number of projects for youth welfare and sports activities in the kit of the Govt. for implementation in 2014.
There is velodrome to be built in Bejapur (North Karnataka) and in Udupi (coastal) region at a cost of Rs.7 crores for cyclists to practice their races on the artificial track inside the stadium he informed that Karnataka had more sports stadiums than any other state in India, and Mangala Stadium which is unfit for certain sports activities as a special track for racing in city there are many more games in Athletics like discos throw and hurdle races which can be practices at the modernized city stadium, he added. There will be no death of support from state Govt. to conduct youth sports and even rural games on the coastal region.
To query from a journalist regarding an incident in Mulky on Monday minister Jain said he believed in non violence as a Jain and did not slap poor auto rickshaw drivers who were complaining about bad roads from Karnad to Mulky on the west coast, but only raised his hand to acknowledge the demand of vehicle drivers in the region for better roads and regular maintenance of such roads in towns and suburban areas, despite heavy loaded lorries constantly moving in the area due to increased trade and increased traffic in owner driven vehicles.
Minister Jain told the scribes that the state Govt. and ministers under CM Siddaramayya who gave him additional port polios coveted by other MLAs would respond to the people’s wishes regularly and there is no shortage of cash involved in schemes of fisheries and youth sports.
President P B Harish Rai welcomed the Minister from Moodabidre, while general secretary of the Journalists union, Srinivas Nayak Indaje, proposed a vote of thanks. This was one of the last programs conducted for the year 2013 in the press club.
