Gurupura: The renowned Vajradehi Math, Gurupur annual fair and celebrations have commenced from 3rd January (Friday) and will continue up to 5th January (Sunday) with a number of programs in view to rejuvenate Hinduism and its followers.
The Math has Swami Rajashekharananda at its helm of affairs and has a strong liking for reformative and forceful form of Hinduism to be practiced by Hindu youth communities on the coastal region in Karnataka.
Religious programs will take place on the first day. On 4th Saturday there is a Dharmik Sabha (religious convention) attended by Rudramuni Mahaswami of Jangam Math who will deliver a massage for active Hindus on the occasion. Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, A J Shetty, Manjunath Bhandary, Nalin Kumar Katil (MP), and Vijaynath Vital Shetty are the chief guests, and will be honored on the occasion along with other dignitaries.
There will be Yakshagana and dance performances on Friday and hummer meet and a drama in Tulu ‘Yellya vishaya malla malpodchi’ on Saturday night.
On Sunday, the final day there is a large Hindu congregation program on the Sunday afternoon and there will be a Shobha Yatra (procession of power) from Gurpur Kaikamba to the Math premises when a large number of invitees and dignitaries will be present.
A Sudharma Sabha will follow after the grand procession ends at the Math, by 4 pm.
A benediction address will be delivered by Sri Krishna Math Puttige Swamiji Sri Sugunendra Tirtha at the valedictory session. The final meeting will be presided over by Dr. Prabhakar Bhatt Kalladka and a key note speech in memory of Swami Vivekananda will be delivered by the stage personality, Chakravarthy Sulibele. Ashok Kumar Rai, M B Puranik, Sathyajit Suratkal, Sharan Pompwel, Yashodhar Chouta Smt. Vijayashri and Ramesh K. will grease the occasion as special invitees.
There will be mid-day meals served all devotees on all 3 days of the annual celebrations at the Math premises in Gurupur.
