Mangalore: The first open dog show organised at Nehru Maidan, Mangalore by Karavali Canine Club in association with Bangalore Canine Club’s 28th and 29th All Breeds Championship on Sunday, February 16,
Nearly 253 dogs, over 35 breeds, took part in the first dog show.
R. Srikar Prabhu, State executive member of BJP, inaugurated the programme.
After inauguration R. Srikar Prabhu said, dogs are men’s very closest pet, that play very important role in his life. The people of Mangalore have got a chance to see dogs of different breeds. Such shows are rare and this is the first of its kind in the city.
According to the age group, in each breed seven classes show was held, Kenneth Chuah from Malaysia, C.V Sudarshan and Rajiv Shandilya were the judges on the occasion.
Miniature Pinscher, pug, Fox Terrier, Bull Dog, Dalmatian, Afghan hound, Dachshund, Irish Setter, golden retriever, Labrador, spaniel cocker, boxer, Dobermann Pinscher, Rottweiler, St Bernard, Siberian Huskie, German Sheperd and others dog breeds were part in the show.
The owners of these dogs hailed from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Goregaon and Mangalore.
Manoj Narvekar, vice president of Karavali Canine Club, Prasad Aithal, secretary and treasurer of Karavali Canine Club were also present on the occasion. Shwetha Mendon compered the show.
