Mangalore, November 6: A passenger ship service named ‘M V MINICOY’ to Lakshdweep, has set to sail from Mangalore Old Port to Kadmatt Island of Lakshadweep on November 6, Saturday.
The inaugural trip, which is said to be the Diwali package, carried over 140 passengers. The ship started from Mangalore old port to Kadmatt Island MV Aminidevi at around 10 am in the morning.
The passenger ship has the capacity of 150 passengers and will sail about 144 nautical miles to reach the destination.
This service was introduced by the Lakshadweep Islands Tourism Development Authority to provide luxurious tourist liner service between Lakshadweep and Mangalore.
The trip, which lasts less than 14 hours, will cost Rs. 5000 per head. Tippu Sultan is the only cargo vessel which moves between Kadmatt Island and Mangalore at present.
