Mangalore: A Yakshagana Talamaddale show in the afternoon. “Guru-dakshine” an honouring spectacle in public of accompaniments leader Mambadi Subrahmanya Bhat by his disciples in the evening, and finally, a costume drama of Bayalata (open play) named ‘Guru-dakshine’ again, were gone through at the Town Hall in Mangalore on Sunday, Nov. 7 during Diwali.
Kateelu Laksmi Narayana Asranna made the benedictory address, making good wishes on Diwali day to the Mambadi Disciples group in honouring their master, M Subrahmanya Bhat, while Kumble Sunder Rao, Chairman of State Yaksha Academy presided on the special occasion. Dr M. Prabhakar Joshi joined in the afternoon programme as an Arthadhari (interpreter) among others. Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punarooru, (former KSP Chief) and Pradeep K. Kalkura (local KSP Chief) were guests of honour. Large crowds were present.
Sitarama Bhat was honoured in the night programme before the costume play started at 7.30 pm. Several artistes of repute, like Koliyur Ramachandra Rao, among others participated.
