Mangalore: B Janardhan Poojary, Congress leader, won the Congress primaries with 478 votes out of the total 547 votes against U. Kanachur Monu, State vice president of party’s Minority Cell on Sunday, March 9 in Mangalore.
U. Kanachur Monu gained only 62 votes. Congress primary (internal election) held at Rosario Cathedral grounds. Around 547 members of party from every block and the Minority cell casted their vote for the both the candidates who wished to contest Lok Sabha elections.
‘Aero-plane’ symbol for B. Janardhan Poojary and ‘Cricket bat’ symbol for U. Kanachur Monu allotted by All India Congress Committee for the candidates.
AICC Returning Officers Pramod Kumar, Prakash Joshi and Praniel Nair were present.
As Moideen Bava, MLA, came late at 11 am at the Primaries venue and had to return without casting his vote.
The Congress primaries declared Janardhan Poojary is the Congress candidate from Mangalore constituency.
