Mangalore: The group of auto rickshaw drivers from all over Mangalore gathered in front of Regional Transport Office (RTO) for more than one hour under the leadership if Federation of Karnataka Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union (DK unit), which is affiliated to CITU.
The drivers protested against the corrupt and rude policies of the Road Transport Authority (RTA), which are against the best interests of poor auto rickshaw drivers. The protest was held under the leadership of District General Secretary L. T. Suvarna.
They demanded the immediate revision of the new rule passed by RTA, according to which auto drivers need to pass Std VIII in order to get a license.
In his protest speech, Sunil Kumar Bajal accused the RTA of cheating the drivers of their rights and deceiving them on purpose.
Vishwanath Shetty and Karunakara Shreeyan also participated in the protest.
