24.06.10 Mangalore : The Kumble Gram Panchayat had passed resolution to name Badiadka Telephone Exchange Road after Anil Kumble which will be inaugurated on the day by the icon himself on, Sunday June 27, said K Prashanth of organizing team.
Speaking at the press meet held at press club on June 24, Thursday, he said that Anil, who is considered as one of the great hero of Indian cricket will be visiting Kumble, a northern most part of Kerala, the place where his ancestors had settled. He has made the people of Kumble proud by carrying its name along with his.
During the event, he will be conferred with honorary citizenship by the Kasargod MP P Karunakaran, who will inaugurate the event at City Hall Kumbla, at 3 pm. He will also be felicitated by some of the prominent personalities.
Prashanth also said that, the roads up to 100 meters have been completed with interlocks for the inaugural and rest of the work will be extended to 450 meters which will meet the expense of Rs 6-8 lakhs, after the programme.
MLA CH Kunhambu, MLA CT Ahammed Ali, MLA K V Kunhiraman, MLA UT Khader, MLA B Ramanath Rai, MLA Yogish Bhat, Former MP I Rama Rai and other dignitaries will participate as the chief guests.
Ashraf Kodiyamma, general secretary, organising committee and B N Suresh, co-ordinator, Organizing Committee were present at the press meet.
