Mangalore : A 15-year-old girl lost her life, as she drowns at Alagundi in Kadandale, Moodbidri on April 26, Saturday.

The deceased is identified as Deeksha Sapaliga, daughter of Ganesh Sapaliga, a tailor by profesion and Rekha Sapaliga, residents of Inna.

It is learnt that, Deeksha, a student of ninth standard, had come to her grandmother’s house to take part in the religious programme. After the function the deceased along with four of the neighborhood children went to Shambavi River at Alagundi, where she had slipped and fell into water while having a bath. The other three who saw her drowning, screamed and brought elders to the spot, but unfortunately, she was declared dead.

Former president of Zilla panchayat Sucharitha Shetty and other leaders arrived at the spot.

Moodbidri police have registered the case.
