Mangalore : Amrit Paul IPS has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (Western Range) post. The post was left vacant since March after the transfer of Prathap Reddy.
Mangalore City commissioner, R.Hithendra, police was the incharge IGP after the transfer of Reddy. Seemanth Kumar Singh, IGP and commander, ANF, Karkala was given the additional charges as the IGP he had not assumed the post.
Paul started his career as IPS officer of 1995 batch. He began his career in Bhalki (Bidar) in 1998, He has served as Superintendent of Police in Udupi, Bidar, Bellary, assistant IGP (crime) and DIGP (internal security)
