Mangalore : Mahabala Marla mayor of the Mangalore city corporation (MCC) said, self assessment tax would be finalised only after assemble a special meeting to discuss the matter, He said at the first general body meeting of the newly elected members of the MCC here May 31.
The Mayor said that with the funds, Under Ground Drainage will be provided to the Old Municipality area.
The council also decided to write to the government to increase the honorarium for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Corporators.
As the budget for 2014-15 has earmarked Rs 344 lakh for the computerisation of the MCC, the council gave its nod for the proposal seeking computerization, he said.
Replying to the BJP corporator Premananda Shettys question, mayor said that this tax had already been hiked by 15 percent during the administrator’s tenure at the MCC.
Ajith Kumar Hegde, MCC Commissioner has said that a drive to clear unauthorised petty shops in the MCC limits will commence from Monday.
Even the encroachment of the footpath area by the shops will also be cleared. Unauthorised flexes, banners and hoardings in the MCC limits will also be removed, he said.
The MCC will issue a notification shortly and all those who have erected the Mobile towers between 2005 and 2014 have to file an applications for regularising the towers, commissioner said.
