Mangalore : President of the Kannada Development Authority Mukhyamantri Chandru in a press meet arranged at DC Office Meeting Hall on June 2, Monday said, the government to make Kannada mandatory in all sectors.
Talking about the recent Supreme Court order which is not mandatory to teach Kannada would negatively affect regional languages. He said English advertisements should not be carried in Kannada dailies.
The new policy which is encourages for teaching in English, but also a new policy is needed to protect regional languages.
Further he said, he will not support for a separate Tulu state demand, such demands can be devastating for the development.
Newly elected MPs of the state can take oath in their state language. They must include Tulu in Eighth Schedule of the Constitution before they take oath, he said.
His tenure as Kannada Development Authority Chairman will end on June 10. He will bring out a book on his 33 point demand on ten issues and and hand it over to the government, he added.
A book written by Dr Chandrashekhar Daamle named ‘Mahabharathada Mahapaatragalu’ was released by Kadri Navaneetha Shetty on the occasion.
Dr K Muralidhar, Secretary of the KDA, Sadashiva Prabhu, Additional DC, Khader Shah, Information Officer and others were present.
