Uppinangandy: A youth from Nellikar of Karkal taluk was drown in Netravthi River at Uppinangady on Wednesday, June 11.

The deceased has been identified Prashanth (24) working in Dubai. He had returned to Uppinangady on June 8, Sunday for his father’s last rites.

Prashanth’s father Sundar Poojary had missing since 25 years. When the family recently consulted an astrologer, he advised better to perform his last rituals.

As per astrologers advice Prashanth along his mother Vasanthi, and other relatives performed the last rituals on June 11 at Sri Sahasralingeshwara temple, Uppinangady.

The family members took a dip at a safer spot in the river, even as Prashanth insisted on doing at the confluence. He was pulled in by the water while he was bathing and he disappeared.

A case has been registered in Uppinangady police station.
