Mangalore: Mangalore Round Table – 115 and Mangalore Ladies Circle – 82 as a part of their community welfare projects donated a Dialysis Unit valued Rs. 5.60 lakhs to the Govt. Wenlock Hospital exclusively for the benefit of the economically weaker sections of the society and BPL patients a medical facility to be offered free of cost at a function held on 28.06.2014 at Hotel Gateway.
Chairman of the Mangalore Round Table – 115 Mr. Dane D’souza symbolically handed over the placard to the State Health & Family Welfare Minister Hon’ble U.T. Khader and in turn he passed it on to the Dist Medical Officer Dr. Rajeshwari.
Mayor Mangalore City Corporation Hon’ble Mahabala Marla graced the occasion as chief guest and in his address he complimented the youth organisation, office bearers and members for their deep concern for the society and their gesture by donating very liberally the dialysis unit for the health care and support of the poor patients of the city.
State Health & Family Welfare Minister Hon’ble U.T. Khader in his address profusely thanked the round table organisation and its members for their valuable donation for the noble cause and their act of kindness and gesture should be worth emulated by other voluntary service organisation also, he said. He also revealed that Mangalore will have a Govt medical college shortly for the benefit of poor meritorious students and the Wenlock hospital will be upgraded as a super speciality hospital shortly.
M.L.C. Capt. Ganesh Karnik speaking as a guest of honour lauded the efforts of round table members for their concern over the poor patients of the city and this is a very good example of private and public participation he added. He also assured that he will ensure that one more dialysis unit will be donated and installed at the Wenlock hospital shortly.
Dist. Medical Officer Dr. Rajeshwari thanked the office bearers and members of round table organisation and ladies circle for their generous and very valuable donation for the cause and concern of the poor patients. She also presented a brief report on the wenlock hospital’s achievements in the healthcare sector and presented her future vision and mission for better healthcare facilities at the Hospital.
