Mysore : Lokayukta police have arrested eight persons, including seven officials attached to the office of Zone nine of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) during the wee hours of Tuesday.
They were produced before a court and remanded in 14 days judicial custody.
This comes close on heels of the arrest of a sub-registrar for allegedly conniving with the land grabbers, who had near grabbed a prime property belonging to the royal scion of Mysore Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.
The arrested persons are, Assistant Commissioner (in-charge) of the zonal office, Ravikumar, Revenue Officers P Siddaiah and Pralhad, Assistant Revenue Officer Kalleshaiah, Revenue Inspector Govindegowda, Junior Engineer Shiva, Accounts Officer Adarsh Kumar, and one Siddaraju.
During the raid on the office that lasted all through the night, 183 pending files were unearthed, besides Rs 85,870 unaccounted money. The money collected was not mentioned on record.
The accused were produced before the court of Third Additional District and Sessions Judge.
Following complaints of undue delay in official works and also demand for bribe, Lokayukta police led by their SP S M Jagadish Prasad raided the zonal office around 7 pm.
The raid party consisted of DySP Swamy Kumar, Inspectors K T Mathew Thomas, Prakash Gowda, Gopalkrishna and Parashuram.
Gold leafing scam
Lokayukta police who have been investigating into the allegations of irregularities during the gold leaf painting at Amba Vilas Palace in the city, have served notices to three persons, including the incumbent deputy director of the Palace Board T S Subramanya.
Lokayukta SP S M Jagadish Prasad told Deccan Herald that the notices seeking information pertaining to the works in detail has been served on Subramanya, his predecessor P V Avaradhi and the artist Ganjifa Raghupathi Bhat who executed the works.
The works launched during the tenure of Avaradhi culminated after Subramanya succeeded him.
The SP said, they have been given five days time to file their replies, as it was vital in continuing with the probe further.
The trio have been already booked in the case and the High Court has already rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Subramanya and Raghupati Bhat.
