Belthangady : The Police arrested four persons for questioning a young pair at Ujire bus stand. Around 50 members surrounded the boy and girl for misgivings on Wednesday July 16.

Ajith Kumar (23) of Maani in Bantwal, Gopal (32), of Laila, Suresh Salian (22) from Valpady in Moodbidri, and Lingappa Naik (37) of Ujire. The police have also arrested a few more persons, sources said.

They have been arrested for moral policing under sections of the Indian Penal Code 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 307 (attempt to murder), 153/A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and149 (unlawful assembly).

The young pair on July 16, Wednesday was waiting at bus stop and locals gathered for their misgivings behavior and later they said we are relatives and fixed our marriage.
