Mangalore: The Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Union, Mangalore Press Club and Forest Department jointly organised Vanamahotsava programme at Ladyhill here on Friday July 25.
Mayor Mahabala Maarla planted a sapling in front of Press Club in presents of Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association president P B Harish Rai, Chief conservator of forests Dr Sanjay Bijoor, deputy conservator of forests Palaiah, assistant conservator of forests Abbas, Mangalore zonal forest officer Clifford Lobo, city corporation environmental engineer V Madhu.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor Mahabala Maarla said, Mangalore City Corporation is planning to implement ‘Green Mangalore’ project soon to make Mangalore a green city.
MCC has separate funds for the development of sports grounds and parks. The project has been initiated with the help of forest, horticulture department and other voluntary organizations. A specialist committee has also been formed to implement the project effectively, headded.
P B Harish welcomed the gathering, Srinivas Indaje, Chief Secretary of the Association proposed vote of thanks.
Vice president Jagannath Shetty Bala, Ramakrishna R and Ravindra Shetty were present on the occasion.
