Puttur: CM Yeddyurappa attend the “Saree distribution” to thousands of women event and to launch ‘Bhagyalaxmi’ plan for female children and their families, besides free medical check-up and Bonds distribution to needy persons to the Puttur town in DK today.
Ministers Krishna Palemar, C.C Patil, Dr. V.S Acharya and Ms. Shobha Karandlaje were with him. They were greeted by large crowds. MLA Mallika Prasad of Puttur, presided on the occasion.
CM laid a foundation stone for Stree Shakti Bhawan and asked women to gain their self confidence and carry on courageously in society. He referred to the plan in which girls would get free education upto College levels and insurance amounts on policies on reaching 18 years of age. Their health will be taken care of by the state in years to come, under a medical card and identity.
In his speech made to the milling crowds at the pandal, after the welcome address, CM Yeddyurappa declared that Karnataka was the first state in India to formulate new schemes for the welfare of women and girl children, whereas all the previous (Congress and JDS) governments did not bother about such matters but merely harangued to the public.
CM later inaugurated a building for women’s self help groups in Puttur taluk at Kasba village, built at accost of Rs.17.50 lakhs from grants and MLA funds.
Addressing the reporters waiting for him in the huge Pandal at the Mahalingeshwara Temple ground around noon in Puttur, CM stated that he was not daunted by former CM’s (HD K) allegations and threats against himself. All land allotments were made as per legal requirements and in good time. His govt will complete its full term and people will give the proper answer to the charges made by HDK, he added after this term
CM traveled to Udupi from Puttur. Earlier sarees were given to beneficiaries and the minority corporation chairman N.V Abubaker garlanded the CM and made presents.
