Bangalore : A scrap dealer killed his 14-year-old daughter’s lover and took his body in a gunny sack to the K R Puram police station on Thursday.
Policemen were aghast when Riyaz Khan (45) approached them, saying he had brought a body on his scooter. He confessed he had killed Sadiq (19), resident of a slum in Someshwaranagar, near Lalbagh Siddapur. Sadiq used to work at a gas welding shop.
He had allegedly developed intimacy with Khan’s daughter Samina (14, name changed), a Class 7 student in a government school. Khan, who learnt of their relationship, warned Sadiq to stay away from Samina. But they continued to go out together. In an attempt to keep them apart, Khan moved to Devasandra.
Frustrated, Sadiq allegedly eloped with Samina on July 30. A livid Khan then approached the K R Puram police on August 2 and filed a kidnapping case against Sadiq. A day later, Khan learnt the lovers would come back if he agreed to their wedding.
On Wednesday night, Riyaz invited the couple to his younger sister’s house on Bannerghatta Road. Sadiq arrived with his relatives and friends. The two families couldn’t agree on the wedding and went their separate ways.
On Thursday, Khan called Sadiq over, saying he wanted to talk to him in private. He took him inside a room in his sister’s house and attacked him with a machete, killing him on the spot. Khan then loaded Sadiq’s body on his Honda Activa and rode to the police station.
He declared he had killed Sadiq, his daughter’s kidnapper, and solved the case. The K R Puram police have taken him into custody.
Police suspect Khan killed Sadiq because he felt humiliated by his schoolgirl-daughter’s relationship with him. Sadiq and Samina reportedly got married after running away. Before killing Sadiq, Khan had treated him to a feast and spoken sweet words to him, police said.
