Mangalore: Kadri police arrested five persons for celebrating renowned writer U R Ananthamurthy’s death.
The arrested are identified as K B Manoj Poojary (30) a resident of Ujjodi, Vijesh Poojary (24) of Shaktinagar, Sharath Shetty (20) of Amblamogaru, Anil of Pumpwell and Umesh.
It is said that these five along are said to be the members of right wing group, who celebrated U R Ananthamurthy’s death by bursting crackers at Kadri welcome arch as soon as the news flash on television on August 22.
The arrest of Manoj, Vijesh and Sharath were arrested by Kadri police led by inspector T D Nagaraj on Tuesday August 26 and already have been granted bail.
However, Anil and Umesh were arrested for the assault on cattle transporters, Shoukath and Sameer on August 23, night. The duo has been remanded in judicial custody.
