Mangalore : Veteran journalist Narayana Raghuveera Ubhaya (75) popularly known as N.R Ubhaya passed away at a private hospital on August 29, Friday night.
Journalist Ubhaya, a resident of Kotekar had served in various dailies including Navabharata, Samyukta Karnataka, Kannadavaani and others. Later, he established his own paper named `Janaraj’ and which functioned for a decade.
Ubhaya had worked as a Mangalore reporter in Indian Express daily for more than 20 years and retired in 2002. Being a strong believer of God, he donated his land for the construction of Ayyappa temple in Kotekar and served as the trustee of temple till death. He also visited Shabarimala temple for two decades.
He had actively worked as Secretary of South Kanara active journalist’s Association.
Apart from it, Ubhaya worked as a member of South Kanara district telecom advisory committee and former senate member of Mangalore University.
