Mangalore : A total of 130 Haj pilgrims from various parts of coastal Karnataka were left behind at the Mangalore International Airport after their flight was cancelled suddenly on August 30, Saturday.
According to the sources, fourth batch of pilgrims were ready supposed to board an Air India Express flight at Mangalore International Airport at 10.45 a.m.
At around 10:40 am, the pilgrims were informed that the flight would be delayed for two hours due to some technical reasons.
Sources said that at around 10:40 a.m. the pilgrims were informed that the flight would be delayed for a couple of hours due to due to some technical reasons. But even after waiting for more than two hours flight did not arrive.
Hundreds of family members of pilgrims who came to Airport to bid them adieu were stranded at the Airport. Finally the department announced that Saturday’s flight was postponed to Sunday.
Speaking to media Airport Director J T Radhakrishna said that Air India Express authorities had assured to take care of pilgrims and likewise shifted them to a hotel in the afternoon. He also said that he was also informed by the Air India Express that fourth and fifth batch would fly to Haj on Sunday at the last moment.
