Mangalore : State Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader said that previously the process in the transplantation of organs were causing obstacles since the power of permitting depended solely on zonal committee of the State health department.
He also said that, the zonal committee used to conduct meetings once in a while and the hospitals who are ready for transplantation were supposed to wait for gain permission. While the department gave permission to four private hospitals such as BGS Global Hospital, Manipal Hospital, Columbia Asia Hospital and Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bangalore to form committees in their hospitals itself.
The hospital committees formed comprises of a representative from the health department and a retired judge. They are given responsibility to conduct meet and grant permission for the transplantation whenever required.
The department will grant permission to form the committee to the hospitals that meet the required norms. Yearly these hospitals conduct an average of 25 transplantations.
Khader urged more number of hospitals to apply for the permission to form the committee and also cleared that permission will be given only to those hospitals that follow the guidelines.
The recent heart plantation was a result of the medical science and technology which works with the support of each other.
