Mangalore : Pandeshwar Police succeeded in arresting two chain snatchers and recovered one bike and gold ornaments worth Rs 1,11,580 from the duo from Shivanagar of Pandeshwar on September 6, Saturday.
The arrested are identified as Muneer (21), a resident of Kalloli in Bajpe Shantigudde and Sairaj (20), resident of Angara Gundi in Baikampady. The police also seized Mangalasutra, rod and bike used by the accused.
Acting on the tip off, Pandeshwar Police Station Inspector Dinakar Shetty along with District Crime Intelligence Bureau officials rounded up the bike of accused at Shivanagar.
It is learnt that, when the police asked to produce the documents of the vehicle with the accused they produced the photocopy of RC bearing registration number of different vehicle. Later Police took the accused to the Police Station and during interrogation they revealed about other robberies too.
Police informed that the accused used to snatched chains from women with the reason of asking address. The duo had robbed Rs 5,000 cash from a house located near Fajir on August 7, thereafter they robbed a Yamaha bike which was parked in BCM Hostel Compound. They snatched gold chain from two women at Katipalla 3rd block on August 18.
