Mumbai : An FIR was registered against actor Salman Khan and a few others related to his charitable organisation Being Human in the Yeotmal district for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of a minority community.
The FIR was registered on Wednesday after receiving a complaint from Mohammad Asim Ali (30), the president of the Vidarbha unit of All-India Qaumi Tanzeem and a resident of Azad Nagar in Yeotmal.
As per his allegations, Khan’s NGO Being Human organised a fashion show in Mumbai in which a model walked down the ramp with the Arabic word for “Allah” being displayed at the bottom of her gown.
The actor has been booked under Section 295 (A) of the Indian Penal Code, which states deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs. The actor and others booked in the case face imprisonment of either description for a term, which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.
Investigating officer Dilip Chavan said, “We have lodged a complaint against Salman Khan, the organiser of the fashion show as well as the model. We are probing the allegations and will take appropriate action in the case.”
