Mangalore : Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy celebrated ‘Beary language day’ at the academy premises on October 3, Friday.
Janab B M Haneef sub-editor of ‘Sudha’ declared open the celebration by beating the Daph symbolically representing Beary culture.
Speaking on the occasion, Sathyanarayana Mallipattna, principal of Mangalore University said that Beary language has more prominence compared to its Lipi. The contribution of Beary language towards field of literature and culture is tremendous.
Renowned writer Mohammad Baddor, Badriya college principal Dr N Ismail and Al-Badriya institutions president Haji B M Mohammad participated as the chief guests.
Janab B A Mohammad president of Academy presided over the function.
The academy also felicitated Abdul Aziz Baikampady, Ibrahim Tannirbavi, B A Shamshuddin Madikeri, Rahim BC Road, Ismail Moodushedde, Hamza Malar and Mohammad Shareef for their contribution to the Beary language.
Academy registrar Umarabba welcomed the guests and gathering. Academy member and convener Janab Hameed Padubidri compered the event. Member Abbas Kirugonda proposed vote of thanks.
