Mangalore : The Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bhajrangdal staged a protest in front of DC’s office on October 13, Monday demanding to suspend Kavoor SI Umesh for alleged assault on a Hindu activist.
Addressing the gathering, BJP leader Monappa Bhandary said that Kavoor SI Umesh summoned Charan to the station and assaulted him for no reason. He also charged him with fake ganja peddling case against him.
He also said that, if the concerned authorities fail to suspend SI within the next 24 hours, then Hindu organizations would intensify their protest.
Bhandary said that Police Commissioner had appointed another police officer Anantha Padmanabha to investigate the case in this regard but has failed to take action against the accused SI.
VHP leader Jagadish Shenava, said that further Hindu organizations would stage a protest in front of Kavoor police station and demand the authorities to file FIR against the SI.
Later the protestors handed over a memorandum to the Mangalore Police Commissioner.
