Mangalore : MLA J R Lobo visited the Lady Goschen hospital on October 14, Tuesday and said that at present Lady Goschen hospital is a well equipped with 260 beds.
He also said that, over 100 patients come to Lady Goschen from district and Kerala for delivery. The patients have been accommodated in the corridor and other places due to the construction work of the new building.
Compared to other districts, mortality rate in the district has been drastically decreased. The infant mortality rate is less than 5% and maternal mortality is less than 2%. Lady Goschen is equipped all the necessary facilities including blood bank with sufficient blood. The government has granted the permission for Component Separation Block and Veerappa Moily will inaugurate it.
Lobo said that, various organizations have conducted blood donation camps and collected 600 bottles of blood for the patients of the hospital. There is also has a dormitory which can more than 200 women has a dormitory where more than 200 women overnight.
The hospital in association with KMC hospital gives quality service to the people of Kerala, Naravi and other districts being a model hospital.
The construction work of the new hospital building was supposed to be completed by December but due to unavoidable circumstances, now the work is in progress and will be completed in June 2015. After the completion, patients will be shifted to the newly built hospital and equipment will be made available.
