Mangalore : Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has decided to launch ‘MP Model Village Scheme’ (Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana), in Sullia taluk of the district.
As per the scheme, five villages in the Dakshina Kannada constituency will be selected and developed as model villages in five year. But the village to be developed in Sullia is not yet been decided and will be left to the MLA of the concerned constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Sullia MLA S Angara said that it was an honour that the scheme would be first implemented in a village in the Sullia taluk. He said that he would form a committee comprising of elected representatives of the constituency and office-bearers of the party and select a village for the scheme. The name of the village to be in ten days, he said.
In the coming years, a village from Belthangady, Puttur, Bantwal assembly constituencies will be selected for the scheme. Apart from it, a village will be selected in the rural region in Mangalore City North or Mangalore assembly constituency for the development of its infrastructure, Kateel.
PM Modi launched the ‘MP Model Village Scheme’ on the birth anniversary of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan, who had struggled for the development of villages in rural areas. The scheme will develop a total of 800 villages in the country into model villages.
