Mangalore : Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce will confer Rachana awards 2014 on five achievers at an award ceremony to be held at Milagres Jubilee Hall on November 16.

The Rachana Woman of the Year award will be conferred on Jeanette Pinto of Mumbai; Rachana agriculturist of the year award on Stany Veigus, Perar; Rachana entrepreneur of the year award on Raphael Sequeira, Mumbai); Rachana professional of the year award on Dr Anil Kieth D’Cruz, Mumbai; and Rachana NRI entrepreneur of the year award on Ligoury D’Mello, Oman.

Union minister for railways D V Sadananda Gowda will be the chief guest at the ceremony while Mangalore Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the programme.

MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, will be the guests of honour.

Recipient Dr Jeanette Pinto, is a retired educationist from Mumbai and served has the principal of the renowned Sophia College and Vice-Principal of st Xavier College, Mumbai. Apart from it, She is the Director of Human Life committee of the Bombay Diocese.

Gabrial Stany Veigas, a retired forest official and has the achievement of converting 37 acres into model farm, with innovative farming practices. He has planted 3400 plants of coconut, mango, rambutan, cashew, grafted variety of jackfruit and breadfruit, he has in the last ten years.

Mumbai entrepreneur Raphael Sequeira, is the managing Director of Mumbai based Reliable group. He started with 50 employees in 1984 and today employs 900 employees.

Dr Anil Kieth D’Cruz, is Director at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and a Professor& Surgeon in the Department of Head & Neck Surgery. He is a distinguished leader in the field of oncology. He is an elected member on the Board of Directors of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), Geneva.

Ligoury D Mello, a mechanical engineer by profession is land of opportunity, working there in oil and gas sector. He formed Technofit LLC a specialized company to provide Engineering Solutions in the Oil and Gas sector with local Omani Partners.
