Mangalore : The single bench of the Karnataka High Court on Monday granted bail to Irshad, Hussain, and Imran, who had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Rajesh Poojary near Bantwal on February 3.
Judge A.V. Chandrashekara ordered release of the three persons on bail on production of surety of Rs. 1 lakh by each of the applicant. The three persons have been asked to appear before the jurisdictional police station every Sunday.
The Democratic Youth Federation of India has been agitating for the release of the three persons saying they were innocent. Following a series of protests, the State government ordered reinvestigation of the case by the Criminal Investigation Department. The three had been in judicial custody for the last six months. The bail application of the three persons had been rejected by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Dakshina Kannada, on July 25.
