Mangalore : In a release the meteorological department informed that, hurricane Nilophar is expected to hit coastal districts including Mangalore and Udupi along with five states including Karnataka.
According to the department, cyclone which is originated at the Arabian Sea, will move to the North passing through Mumbai, and may cause extensive damage to Gujarat state.
The storm will get intensified and is likely to cause heavy rainfall by Tuesday night.
The department has also warned that, areas of the west coast such as Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Diu-Daman, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep may be affected by storm.
Nilophar is not as strong as HudHud but may seriously affect some of the areas of Gujarat and Pakistan.
The name of Mangalore in their list has aroused anxiety and said that before the hurricane passes through the area city may witness heavy down pour.
