Kasargod : Police have succeeded in arresting one of the accused in connection with the murder of CPM activist.
The arrested has been identified as Mithun, while the other three main accused Anantapura resident Sharath, Kudreppadi resident Dinesh alias Dinu, Bharath alias Bharath Raj are still absconding.
It is learnt that, CPM activist Kumble Shantipalla resident P Murali (37) was murdered by four accused near Seethangoli with deadly weapons on Monday October 27 evening when he was traveling on a bike with his friend Manjunath to the wooden depot at Shantipalla. However Manjunath managed to escape.
With the arrest of Mithun, the police are trying to find out the involvement of other accused.
Police said that, after the crime the group had fled via the inside road to Kudreppadi. Previous they had questioned seven people with regard to the incident but were not able to find the two bikes and deadly weapons used in the crime.
After getting the information, the police had also conducted the raid in Kudreppadi but failed to find the suspects there. It is suspected that they might have fled to Karnataka.
They also said that, after the arrest of main suspect Sharath they will be able to identify the reason for the murder.
