Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada unit of Akhila Bharath Hindu Mahasabha will bring back at least 100 persons in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in 2015, according to the spokesperson Dharmendra K.
He told presspersons here on Friday that about 100 to 150 people have been identified for re-conversion to Hinduism already and the programme to bring them back to the religion would begin on a grand note. It would be announced in a meeting of seers and ‘sants’ (spiritual leaders) to be held sometime after April 2015.
He claimed that bringing back those who are willing to return to Hinduism has been going on in Dakshina Kannada through Arya Samaj but the activity was kept under wraps as Dakshina Kannada was “sensitive”. When he was the Secretary of the Arya Samaj about four years ago as many as 40 people had converted to Hinduism. This had been going on though there was lull for the past year, he claimed.
Mr. Dharmendra said converts would be free to choose the caste they want. “This has been decided,” he said when asked if caste factor would be a matter of debate at the proposed meeting of seers and ‘sants’.
Earlier he demanded that a temple should be built for Nathuram Godse so that people “understood him properly”. When a journalist pointed out that he is held responsible for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, Mr. Dharmendra said Godse was upset that the Mahatma Gandhi could have avoided partition but had failed to do so.
