Mangaluru : Koti and Chennaya, the legendary heroes who are dear to the hearts of the people in the district and surrounding areas, were expected get the much-needed attention when the government announced that a project on “conservation and preservation of the footprints depicting their birth and life” two years ago.
Official sources admit that the State government had released only Rs. 2 crore of the Rs. 5 crore announced.
The detailed project report was yet to be finalised, though a foundation stone for the project was laid a month ago on January 27 this year at Padumale near Puttur.
The plan is to build a community hall, a museum-cum-information centre, toilet bath room facilities, compound wall and a walking path there.
