Udupi : The labour department officials raided a gold jewellery maker’s shop and rescued two boys on Tuesday March 24.
As per public complaints, the team raided a gold jewellery maker’s shop near Shet building and rescued two boys. The boys originally from West Bengal and they occupied as helpers in jewellery making.
The boys were handed over to Spoorthidhama for rehabilitation and education in its special school, labour department officials said.
Along with Padubidri police Labour officer H P Jnanesh, project director of Udupi district Child Labour Project Society Prabhakar Achar, S Maya, coordinator of block resource centre here, education coordinator in the block education office Shankar, district children protection cell personnel Yogish and Kiran Babu and others participated in the operation.
