Mudabidre : Veerappa (45), a resident of Alangar, died and his daughter and wife were injured when the van they were travelling in hit a private bus at Kantavara Cross near Moodbidri on Thursday.

The Moodbidri police said that Veerappa, owner of a cycle shop, was returning with his family from a marriage in Sanoor.

The van was driven by Veerappa. Near Kantavara Cross, the van hit the private bus going from Moodbidri to Karkala around 5 p.m.

Veerappa died on the spot. His wife and daughter have been admitted to a private hospital, the police said.
