Mangaluru : The Railway suggestions and complaint box was officially inaugurated at MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLC Ivan D’Souza offices premises here on Wednesday, June 10.
Speaking to the reporters at his office he said that, the suggestions or complaints proposed by people will reviewed every three months through the ‘Konkan Railway and Southern Railway Adalat’ a solution will be provided,” said MLC Ivan.
He also claimed creation of separate Mangaluru zone, as people cannot be expected to go to divisional railway headquarters at Palakkad for every work.
Mr. D’Souza said since Mangaluru region has been contributing over 80 per cent of the revenue to the Palakkad division, it deserves to be made a railway division. As per the original plan of Konkan Railway Corporation, its jurisdiction should have commenced from Netravathi River and not from the present Thokur, he pointed out.
The MLC said he would closely work with Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha Member Nalin Kumar Kateel for improving Railway network and amenities in the region. A superfast train between Mangaluru and Mumbai via Vasai Road and Bandra should be started as there are only two direct trains at present, which are running full, Mr. D’Souza said.
On the occasion, Mangaluru Mayor Jasinta Vijaya Alfred opened the grievances box kept at the MLC’s office to facilitate general public to submit their grievances, suggestions.
