Mangaluru : The Kavoor police have arrested a 23-year-old man who is allegedly involved in a robbery at the quarters of a 58-year-old stenographer in the Commercial Tax Department on Saturday night.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Shantaraju gave his name as Taranath (23) of Padavinangady. The police recovered Rs. 600 and the motorcycle used for robbery. The police are searching others allegedly involved in the act.

Mr. Shantaraju told presspersons that Taranath painted himself with red to show Radha that he had been injured in an accident. When Ms. Radha, who was alone at the house, opened the door to offer water, Taranath and another person entered the house. They reportedly assaulted her, tied her to a chair and went away with a gold chain, Rs. 39,000 and three mobile phones.
