Mangaluru : Mangaluru is experiencing acute water shortage recently and also since the past two days. Taps have gone dry after two main water supply pipelines at Kannur burst on August 1, Saturday. Under the supervision of MCC officials repair works are continuously carried out. It is assured that water supply will be restored at the earliest once the pipeline repair works are complete.

Mayor along with officials and Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo visited the spot and inspected the works on August 2, and 3rd August 3 for ensuring that the repair works to be carried in time and at the earliest. It has to be ensured by concerned officials that mud is not dumped over the pipelines knowing that it is bound to exert pressure Till recently land on which these pipelines run near Kannur,, remain water bodies and a spurt of activity to gain land by dumping mud was allowed and for construction of commercial activities were noticed. This could be the result of this incident of pipeline burst. Now the officials warned of action against those responsible for dumping mud.
Any how such incidents of bursting of pipelines have been regularly reported and repair work carried out by contractors hired by MCC.
