Mangaluru : In an act exhibiting extraordinary courage, a group of girl students from a prominent city college allegedly thrashed a student from an engineering college, who was allegedly harassing one of the girls, and handed him over to the police on Tuesday evening.

In her complaint to Barke police, the 20-year-old student of a women’s college in the city, said the accused, Kiran alias Karan hails from Bagalkot son of  a retired DySp of Bijapur, had been pestering her for the last four days. The boy got to know her mobile number when she was recharging currency on her phone at a shop near the college on August 22, she said in the complaint.

He began sending SMSes and calling her repeatedly. On Tuesday evening, Kiran approached the girl, who was with her friends near the college, and began misbehaving with her.

The girls, with the help of passersby, apprehended him and handed him over to the Barke police.

The police have registered a case and are investigating.
