Mangaluru : Kalkura Foundation has organised the Krishna Varna Vaibhava, a drawing competition in six categories, Later, in the afternoon Krishna vesha competition was held in 25 categories from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event was symbolically inaugurated in a unique manner by placing a 11-month-old baby in a cradle, the dignitaries on the dais lit the ceremoniallamp. Karnataka Bank MD Jayaram Bhat, Kadri Temple treasurer A J Shetty, M B Puranik, Vijayalakshmi Shetty, Aithappa Naik and others were present.
The competition, was held in five venues simultaneously in the Temple premises. The categories like’Kanda Krishna’ for infants aged less than one year, ‘Muddu Krishna’ for toddlers between one and two years, ‘Tunta Krishna’ for 2 to 3 year olds, ‘Bala Krisha’ for tiny tots in LKG and anganwady kids, ‘Kishora Krishna’ for UKG and first standard children and so on. There was also a ‘Yaksha Krishna’ category in which contestants had to perform different forms of Yakshagana. The ‘Nanda Gokula’ group category was open for all, while ‘Radha Krishna’ category was for girl-boy teams of seventh standard. Some of the other categoris were ‘Devaki Krishna’, ‘Yashoda Krishna’ and ‘Vasudeva Krishna’ where parents also participated with their kids.
The beauty and mischievousness of Lord Krishna came alive at Kadri Temple premises, at the Krishna Vesha competition organised by Kalkura Prathishtana here on Saturday. The tiny tots enthralled the audience.
Few little Krishna’s were seen savouring butter and ice cream while parents were trying hard to make their children look better.
The venue also witnessed ‘new avatara’ of Krishna. A little Krishna, holding Doraemon and Chota Bheema were also seen.
The Sri Krishna Varna Vaibhava was held in six categories viz ‘putani’ ‘shishu’ (I to IV), ‘Baala vibhaga’ (fifth to seventh standard); ‘Kishora vibhaga’ (for eighth to tend std), ‘Taruna vibhaga’ (PU and degree) and open category.
Every participating child was honoured with an idol of Udupi Kadagolu Krishna made of panchaloha along with books on Sri Krishna, sa certificate, photo of Lord Kadri Sri Manjunatha and other sponsored gifts. Copies of Shrimad Bhagavathgeetha were given to all participants of Geetha Krishna section. Hot Milk, peda and ice cream were distributed to competing children.
The Krishna vesha competition was inaugurated by Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple chief priest Lakshminarayana Asranna.
Artist Harish Acharya, Prasad, Sudheer Pandeshwar had created sand sculpture of Radhe, Krishna and Manjunath on the venue.
