He questioned as to why Madhavi was sent to AJ Hospital when District Wenlock Hospital has tie up with the KMC Hospital.
He claims that when Madhavi was forwarded for a surgery to tackle bleeding, it was not brought to the notice of the family members. Further, her surgery was done by the PG Students and nurses, without the presence of senior surgeons and none of the doctors had recommended to send Madhavi to KMC where Wenlock has a tie up. She was unilaterally sent to AJ Hospital for treatment, he alleged.
“AJ Hospital has given a bill of Rs 2.5 lac for a week long treatment. Despite Madhavi’s family holding a BPL card, no benefits have been provided by the government. On our request, the hospital has given a concession of Rs 25,000,” he said adding that he has brought the matter to the notice of the DC who had promised to order an inquiry into the matter.
It is said that Madhavi, wife of Thimmappa Gowda from Thenka Mijar in Moodabidri was admitted to Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru on September 27. She gave birth to a baby boy on the same day. As per the family members, the doctors did not allow them to see the baby and the mother on the same day. However, on September 28, the doctors forwarded Madhavi for an operation stating that she was bleeding profusely. When Madhavi’s condition continued to deteriorate, she was shifted to District Wenlock Hospital. The Wenlock authorities forwarded her to A J Hospital, stating that KMC specialists were not available at the point of time. On October 5, Madhavi breathed her last.
