Mangaluru : Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, has sought the resignation of Home Minister G. Parameshwara for the murder of two undertrials at the Mangaluru prison. He said that the murder reflected the deteriorating law and order situation in the district.
Mr. Kateel said the Home Department was not acting tough against persons involved in criminal cases who were involved in gang wars. Taking serious exception to the availability of weapons in the prison on Monday, Mr. Kateel said a detailed investigation should be done on how those sharp-edged weapons reached inside the jail.
Family members of Madoor Isubbu and Ganesh Shetty, who were murdered in the prison, staged a snap protest at the Government Wenlock Hospital when bodies were moved out in the vehicle.
The family members and other supporters of Isubbu insisted that Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim visit the spot before the bodies are taken out.
The former Mayor K. Ashraf convinced them and allow transportation of bodies to the burial ground.
