Mangalore: A programme of honouring veteran Tulu stage artistes and masters was arranged by state Tulu Sahitya Academy and the Union of Tulu Drama artistes, at the Town Hall on Dec.16, Thursday.
S. Raghavendra Shastri inaugurated the event traditionally and told the gathering that a light removes a hundred years darkness. He hoped that the Tulu artistes who believe in God and seek his blessings will prosper, make a name worldwide and help the old artistes in their sufferings.
The organizers honoured several aged and veteran Tulu artistes on the occasion, with shawls and fruits. Playwright Bhoja Suvarna, director M. Ganesh Rai, Make – up artiste A. Krishna Nayak stage actor B.N. Rao and actress Rohini Jagram were felicitated. The owner of SHarada Electricals also was feted on the occasion.
M. Raghunath Shet of S.L Shet Jewellers presided on the happy occasion. Tulu Films producer T. A. Srinivas, Lawyer K. Govinda Rao of Bangalore and former Tulu Academy Chief M. Sitaram Kulal were present as the guests of honour.
Muralidhar Kamath and party entertained the eager audience with a series of Tulu songs at the end with a ‘Rasamanjari’ programme.
