Mangaluru : City and other parts of Dakshina Kannada, strict enforcement of orders prohibiting movement of people on roads from Friday to Sunday. Schools and colleges also declared Holiday throughout the district.
The Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner ordered imposing prohibition on movement of people following tension after stones were thrown on a meeting in B.C.Road near Bantwal here on Thursday to protest clashes in Madikeri. There was an attack on two persons on Thursday night leading to death of one person in Bantwal.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal called upon people to close down their shops and business establishments voluntarily on Friday to mourn the death of the person in Bantwal.
Additional police force and Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed across the district.
On Friday morning, police went around the city warning people against walking on the roads. They also forced people to close down shops and hotels. People found it hard to obtain daily necessities such as milk in the morning.
With city buses and autorickshaws off the road, people arriving to the city from different parts of the state were put to hardship.
