Mangaluru : District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the 10th International Children’s Film Festival, organised by Children’s India and district administration, at Town Hall in the city on Sunday.
speaking at the inaugural ceremony Actor Khushboo said film medium can bring unity in the society, elders to instil values of unity and patriotism in children.
“The values of patriotism, secularism and unity have to be instilled among the children as they are going to lead the country. We need to teach equality and let them know that unity is the key which can place the country on global map for all the right reasons,” she observed.
All children are born with a golden heart. But as they grow, they tend to differ in their thoughts and minds, she said.
Khushboo said intolerance is increasing nowadays and there is no patience, no understanding and no heart to understand the pain of others.
Speaking after inaugurating the film festival, District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said the film festival is being organised on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Children are visible gods, he added.
Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo presided over the programme. Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes, Mangaluru North MLA B A Mohiyuddin Bava, Puttur MLA Shakuntala T Shetty, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Karnataka State Children’s Rights Commission Chairperson Kripa Amar Alva, State Social Welfare Board Chairman Divyaprabha Gowda, Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman Rajendra Singh Babu, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President Sa Ra Govindu, Children’s India President N R Nanjundegowda and Sril Lankan filmmaker Somarathna Disanayake were among those present on the occasion.
