Mangaluru : Areas around Kadri Park and Nanthur Padua were cleaned on Sunday as part of the Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan being undertaken by the Ramakrishna Mission.
S. Vishwanath, senior scientist from the National Aeronautic Laboratory, Bengaluru, and Vasanth Kumar Perla, Director, All India Radio, Mangaluru, launched the drive in the presence of Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mutt president Swami Jitakamananda and Ganesh Karnik, MLC.
Volunteers from Art of Living, students from Government First Grade College, Nivedita Balaga, students of Bharati PU College and mutt devotees participated.
The surrounding of the AIR campus were spruced up under the guidance of M.R. Vasudev and Capt. Karnik. The walking path along Kadri Park Road, which was covered by bushes and shrubs, too was cleaned and debris were removed using an earth mover.
The bus shelter on NH 66 at Nanthur Padua, which was in a bad shape, was cleaned and given a fresh coat of paint. The direction board near Kadri Park was worn out. It was repainted while the milestones on the Padua highway was repainted. While the circle in front of Vas Bakery in St. Agnes area was cleaned and repaired last week, it got cement plastering this week. It would a get fresh coat of paint with art and graffiti in the coming days, said a release from the mutt.
