Vijayapura : The Karnataka State Janapada Academy has selected 30 folk artistes and two scholars for its awards for the year 2014.

Academy president Pichchalli Srinivas said here on Monday that the selection had been made with a view on ensuring social justice, representation for women and all regions of the State. Fifty per cent of the awards go to the women.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a citation.

The awards will be conferred at a function to beheld at Kalaburagi in the first or second week of January 2016, he said.
